Coed Darcy Urban Village

Overview

Coed Darcy Urban Village is a proposed development of 4000 homes and community facilities being built over the next 20 years - at a cost of some £1.2 billion.

Once BP’s only oil refinery in Wales, developers have produced a huge plan to build a new eco-neighbourhood of the future.

St Modwen, the overall developer, has taken over the sprawling 1,000-acre site and work is well advanced on preparing the ground for the first 300 houses to be built.

It is envisaged that the development will be “...a flagship project to underpin economic development and investment helping raise the aspirations for development and regeneration across Wales”.

The project has been led by BP in partnership with the Welsh Government, Neath Port Talbot Council and the Prince's Foundation for the Built Environment.  However, St Modwen acquired the site from BP along with liability for all remediation works.
