Canal Restoration
Canal Restoration
The Swansea, Neath and Tennant canals are a major
heritage and leisure resource with significant potential for
development.
Over the past few years over £5 million has been invested in the
Neath canal to remove pollution and to restore canal features and
navigation to an 8km section canal between Neath and
Abergarwed.
The feasibility of undertaking further improvements and
restoration works is also being explored with canal owners, canal
trusts and other interested organisations.
The long-term aim is to link the three canals via Swansea docks
to create a 35km navigable inland waterway with a link to the
Bristol Channel.
