Liz Terry and Ellie Taylor launched Insight Health Screening in 2009, from Sandfields Young Business Centre Port Talbot.

The business is going from strength to strength, working with local and national businesses to improve the health of their staff, reduce absences and promote wellbeing.

Co-founder and qualified nurse Liz Terry said: "Clearly prevention is better that cure. We all know that but that is not always practised in the workplace.

"However, many businesses these days are coming to the view that there are many benefits to be obtained from companies investing in the health of their workers".

The business originally received funding from both Corus subsidiary UK Steel Enterprise, in a scheme operated by Business Connect, and the NPT Flexible Loan Fund. This funding enabled them to purchase equipment and also install a Keystone Vision Screener and audio booth for testing hearing which was a great help to them when they were first starting out in business, when access to main stream finance is always difficult.

With an ever-increasing work-load, the business now operates out of two offices at the Centre, has recently acquired a mobile screening unit and currently employs eight people.

The businesses management structure has also changed since inception, with Liz Terry having taken control at the helm, and Ellie Taylor has moved out and into other areas.
