Construction businesses in South West Wales can now have help to recruit apprentices to share with other businesses.

Cyfle – the South West Wales Shared Apprenticeship Scheme helps recruit apprentices to be on site for 3 days per week, and at college for the other 2 days.

Businesses offering placements will make a contribution towards the cost of the apprentice, but this will only be for the days that the apprentice is on site with them (not including bank holidays, sick days etc.). The current rate is £20 per day (£60 per week).

The benefits to your businesses are that:

You do not have to commit to employing an apprentice for a long period of time.
You do not have to provide the variety of work required for them to pass their qualification.
Apprentices can carry out shorter placements with different companies to ensure that they gain the relevant experience.
The apprentices are employed by South West Wales Regional Shared Apprenticeship Limited (SWWRSAL). Trades available this year include bricklayers, plumbers, plasterers and carpenters.
