Publication of Child Practice Reviews across the Western Bay Region
Since 1st January 2013 Local Safeguarding Children Boards in Wales have undertaken Child Practice Reviews under the new legislative guidance: Protecting Children in Wales - Guidance for Arrangements for Multi Agency Child Practice Reviews. This guidance replaces Chapter 10: Serious Case Reviews in Safeguarding Children: Working Together under the Children Act 2004. This guidance and its arrangements reveal a more inclusive method of learning from cases and sets out criteria over different levels allowing cases which would never reach the threshold for Serious Case Review to be reviewed and lessons to improve practice identified at a much earlier stage. The Western Bay Safeguarding Children Board has welcomed this legislation and the requirement to review practice at earlier intervals and has an expectation that more reviews will be undertaken is shorter timescales to improve learning from practice.
This page is dedicated to the publication of such reviews and throughout the Board's existence will, from time to time release Child Practice Review Reports for publication in accordance with the guidance.
Each report has been anonymised to protect the identities of the children and families involved. Reports are published here for a period of 12 weeks and then removed. The reports themselves however must remain available for public consumption to ensure practice learning can be shared and reviewed. A list of previously published reports and access to any historic publications can be accessed from the Board's Business Management Unit.
