BOOKABLE. Suicide at The Mackworth Arms Hotel, 1816 by Gary Gregor The Mackworth Hotel in Green Dragon Lane lay on the mail coach route from London to West Wales. On Wednesday, October 9th 1816, the mail coach left Bristol with Fanny Imlay on board. Upon arrival at the Mackworth, she booked a room and was later found dead from an overdose of Laudanum. But who was Fanny Imlay? Find out in this fascinating talk with Swansea historian Gary Gregor.

On the evening of Saturday 15th May 1915, a violent crowd, angered by Germany’s sinking of the passenger liner Lusitania attacked two, long established, jewellers’ shops in Green Street, Neath.1 Neither of the shops’ owners, nor their families were related but they shared the surname of Kaltenbach and with Britain at war with Germany, the misfortune of being German.
