Description

I am a lady in my 70s living in the Aberafan area of Port Talbot area with my husband. I have FND, diabetes and other health problems. My mobility is a little bit limited but I can get around by myself though I use a wheelchair over long distances. I have seizures linked to my FND which I call my “wobbles” which I’ll explain to you more about when we meet.

I’m a friendly and chatty person that enjoys the company of others. I like to play cards, read and used to enjoy going on holidays. I’m looking for a PA to help me get online to find some FND support groups, to help me with some cooking and taking me out to places I like such as Porthcawl.

Purpose

  • Keeping me company at home
  • Helping me to get online with my new tablet and find FND Support Groups
  • Helping me to do activities I enjoy such as cooking
  • Occasional light domestic tasks such as hanging out laundry
  • Helping me to access the community in my wheelchair 
  • Taking me out to places I like such as Porthcawl
  • Any other reasonable duties.

  • Someone who can work flexibly
  • Someone who will support and encourage me when I’m feeling down
  • Someone with a positive attitude who will work with me to do the things I enjoy
  • Car driver with access to a vehicle is essential
  • Some previous care experience would be an advantage but is not essential.

Hours

CAR DRIVER IS ESSENTIAL

6 hours per week - Hours are flexible. 

Hours will be agreed with you in advance by mutual consent.

This post may require a DBS check (the cost of which will be met by NPTCBC). If this post requires you to work with children then it is compulsory for you to have a DBS check prior to commencement.

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.

Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly or monthly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.

You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.

You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
