Description

I am a 58 year old man living in the Baglan area of Port Talbot. I live with a brain injury. I am very outdoorsy and enjoy walking my dogs, gardening and doing DIY around my home. I like to go out for a coffee regularly.

Purpose

  • DIY/Gardening.
  • Planning and preparing for activities.
  • Prompting me to take my medication (I can forget, but take them myself).
  • Understand that due to my Brain injury that I may need support in area that will promote my independence and motivate me to complete tasks that I wish to undertake.
  • Some support with keeping my workshop tidy.
  • Minimal domestic duties (such as loading/unloading washing machine.)
  • Attending any relevant training.
  • Any other reasonable duties.

Tasks

•    I need support to motivate me to complete tasks around my home and garden, and plan for getting these jobs done.
•    I would like support getting out and about to do things that I enjoy.
•    I would like to be able to do things independently from my wife and be able to give her a break.
•    I need support to be self-sufficient.
 

Person Type

A person who:

  • Must be a dog lover (I have three).
  • Helping me to walk my dogs.
  • Enjoys DIY/gardening/walks, and is generally outdoorsy.
  • Good sense of humour.
  • Someone who is confident and approachable.
  • Health and safety conscious whilst assisting me with tasks.
  • Willing to learn about brain injury, and how it affects me.
  • Someone who can plait hair.
  • Someone who can help and support me to go shopping.
  • Someone who will encourage and motivate me.
  • Driving licence essential (PA will be put on the car insurance for employers vehicle).

Hours

Generally a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday – The hours and times are flexible and are to be discussed and mutually agreed during interview.

A Saturday or Sunday may sometimes be required.
